Editing a font

I picked the font "Marker Felt" as it was really simple.

I decided to add a few strokes to it and make it more girly and cursive.

Brochure Design

I knew that the requirement was to do a corporate brochure, and most corporate brochures I found online involved dark colours and really simple font.

I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and think out of the box. I wanted a fun and inviting corporate brochure so instead of dark colours, i picked colour blocking colours together against a white background - lime green and purple. (more like Barney) HAHAHAHA oops :-b

I picked green because green symbolizes growth and self-reliance. For example, starting anew and being independant. Also, green is said to be the colour of prosperity and abundance, of finance and material wealth and relates to the business world.

Purple relates to imagination, which I believe involves opening our minds to see the big picture and trying to accomplish something in which you believe in. In other words, go big or go home.

The font in which I used were BOLD for the headers, because I wanted them to be eye-catching. The font written was also rather informal and "cute" since I did not want them to be boring to read after a while. I wanted the BCC of SP to have an inviting and welcoming feel.

I thought that by adding a lot of photos was a great idea too, since it adds more life and colour to the brochure. :-)

The brochure took a lot of hard work and effort but it paid off and I'm so glad.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic Visit

As for the school visits, I was assigned Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I was really excited since I really like NP's designs.

This is the goodie bag!

I personally really love this board because it's colourful and not wordy. Many would definitely go to the board to read and find out more!

This is the HMS building. The "entrance" was really really inviting!

Even the tag on the cake pop was simple yet nice!

I thought that the brochure was really eye-catching since it was colourful and colour-blocking colours were used. For example, purple against yellow and red.

The designs were rather cute!

Selfie!!!!!

Personally I really really liked NP's open house. They used really colourful and cute, not giving the serious vibe. This helps NP portray the image that they are a fun polytechnic. I loved the colours used because they give a vibrant feel. NP itself is already colourful, I must add in, but the choice of colour-blocking colours used, which "match but do not match" were really smart. Good job NP!

The theme of the open house would most probably be "always that something extra".
I really really like the designs even though they were a little childish, but also because of the fact that they are trying to attract 16-17 year olds.
Yes, SP's open house theme was rather boring compared to NP's. SP used serious, dark colours, and I think SP needs more colour in the open houses to attract students!

Peranakan Museum Field Trip

So, for a school project, I was assigned to go to the Peranakan Museum. The Peranakan Museum was really an eye-opener for me since I do not know any Peranakans personally so I know nothing about how their culture is like. I've been to the Peranakan Museum once before this, during primary school, but it was all fun and games for me back then. But this time, I actually took a look at all the exhibits, read up and found out a lot of info on the Peranakans, for example, regarding their weddings and costumes. Here's some photos.

This is the set of questions we had to complete.

Here are information that I found interesting during the visit!

We also found out that Dick Lee is a Peranakan!

I really enjoyed the trip even though it was so early on a weekend but it was indeed a great experience.

Photoshop (Merging People)

One thing I've always wondered was how people managed to "photoshop" images and put two people together. However, I found out it was simpler than it looks. For example, here are two photos.

Here is a photo of Chris Evans and a random girl that is not me. And on the right is a picture of me.
And because I know I will never get a photo with my boyfriend because he lives at the other end of the world, I have to resort to Photoshop.
Firstly, I opened up the photo of Chris Evans.

I then added in a photo of me on top of the photo of Chris.

Next, I erased parts I did not want and placed me beside Chris. *wink*

Then, I cropped out the photo.

I then, edited the curve levels for each individual layer to make the layers look more compatible.

I then added a few filters to make the photo look more realistic (which is a fail but it's okay, A for effort!)

This is the final photo of me and my boyfriend :-)

Photoshop Layers

So while playing with the layers in photoshop, we learnt how some car advertisements were edited to look cool. Like for example, below, was a normal sports car and we were given a rugged "crumpled paper" texture and i placed it above the car texture and played around with the modes and opacity and I got this cool-looking photo of a car.

This is the final photo :-)

Also, we were given a photo of a cat with a fish bowl filled with clear water and a gold fish in it.

While playing around with the layers and colour, I managed to get the fish bowl to contain pink liquid. Also, I added in fishes.
